Study course for further education in Gerontology

Study structure

The study is divided in different parts, i.e. a time of presence (form of block seminars with 20 days of presence each semester 1-4) and a time of self studies for literature analyses, practical projects and specific tasks. The practical project should be integrated into professional activities

The semester one to four consists of the following modules:

1st semester- to become old

  • to be old, challenges and consequences
  • ageing and health
  • project of practice

2nd semester

  • elder people in health and social system
  • life field orientation, suburban work, city development
  • educational and cultural work
  • project of practice

3rd semester

  • self organisation and networking
  • elder people as resources in the working world
  • organisations management and quality
  • project of practice

4th semester- management, controlling, marketing

  • elder people in economic context
  • ageing in Europe
  • project of practice

Teaching and practicing of scientific and practical methodical competences are integrated into the modules corresponding to the items.

The 5th semester is used for elaboration of the master thesis.

To evaluate the study success module-related examinations are carried out during the period of study. Thereby the examination face is manly integrated into the study. The studends can focus on their final thesis and the colloquium in their 5th semester.
