The Department of Information Technology / Electronics / Mechanical Engineering offers a broad spectrum of competence and excellent laboratory infrastructure, which is used for teaching and s also for research and development.
The Department of Information Technology / Electronics / Mechanical Engineering (IEM) was formed on the 1st July 2001 through the amalgamation of the departments of Information Technology, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. At the start of the winter semester 06/07, the Business Studies course was integrated into the department.
The interdependence of the areas of Information Technology, Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering has noticeably increased in recent years. Examples of this are the constantly increasing use of electronics in the automobile industry, as also the fact that the development costs for mobile telephones are determined to a considerable extent by the software required.
Because the cooperation of these departments at the FH Lausitz had become ever more pronounced in recent years, the amalgamation of the areas was obvious.
