In our general principle, we define education and sciences as the basis for innovation and future development of the region. To study at the UAS Lausitz, with two campuses in Cottbus and Senftenberg, means, learning at a young University of Applied Sciences under excellent conditions, and living in a region full of chances and changes – in the middle of a growing Lakeland, and plenty of sport facilities directly on the campus. The National Theatre Cottbus and the Neue Bühne Senftenberg (German for New Stage) enjoy an excellent reputation.

The special attribute of our University of Applied Sciences lies in the alliance of scientific and technical fields with study courses of business economics, social affairs, and music pedagogics. The alliance between traditional studies on the one hand and new ideas and laboratories on the other increases the attraction of our University of Applied Sciences.
That way, re-designed, interdisciplinary and international courses and areas of studies as computational mechanics, biotechnology, medical technology and physiotherapy enjoy growing popularity among students, facilitating moreover professional perspectives on the regional, national and international labour market.

Nearly all study courses offer already a final Bachelor‘s and Master‘s degree. The research works‘ and projects‘ results of our students and teaching staff are always measured according to the application in the practice and its benefit.
Our identity: We do not rely on mass; we rely on high quality premium education and research. We will go on expanding our position as an economic factor of Lausitz. This is for what our teaching staff, our University of Applied Sciences, and finally yet importantly, our students and postgraduates stand for.

The currently available study courses at the University of Applied Sciences guarantee a solid basic education and transmission of applicable knowledge, and a high ratio of laboratory tutorial training units. The optimisation of the available study courses is continuously carried out through the consequent pursuit and implementation of the Bologna Process. Regular course evaluations by the students lead to a selective improvement of the educational quality. The students particularly positively evaluated the personal supervision by the tutors.

The basics‘ study of all sciences establishes the fundament for the transmission of a wide standard of knowledge, amplified in the practice of the following semesters in the respective special areas – including practice periods abroad. The feedback from the students‘ internships demonstrates that our adopted course has proved itself, and that the companies and the postgraduates appreciate it. Students from different areas of studies form project groups and participate regularly in tenders. Due to the practice-orientated education-structure, students have to deal continuously with real scopes and gain this way an advantage in competition for their future working life.

Besides the specialised knowledge and its application in the practice, our University of Applied Sciences transmits the exceedingly important soft skills for the future employment. We support the creativity of our students and train with the help of regular courses of instruction their presentation techniques, discussion‘s attitude, and approach to problems. As a result, we ascertain that the majority of our postgraduates get a job sooner or even advance sooner in their positions than the average.
