Master Program in Biotechnology at Lausitz University of Applied Sciences (L.U.A.S.)

Aim and Scope of the Master Program

The three semester Master program in Biotechnology is an intensive, laboratory based, research oriented training program which immediately follows the seven-semester Bachelor program in Biotechnology at L.U.A.S. (consecutive BA/MA study). Graduates from this consecutive study earn 300 credit points within 10 semesters (210 from Bachelor program and 90 from the Master program). Therefore, the Master program starts only with the summer semester. As a rule, two third of places are reserved for Bachelors of L.U.A.S. with outstanding performance.

To assure individual training on high standard, the number of participants is limited. Special emphasis is put on individual training in small groups. All lectures, seminars and laboratory courses are taught in English. 

The admission process is a stepwise procedure, including personal interviews with candidates, if necessary.

After two semesters of intensive training, students complete the program with a six-months thesis project leading to the degree Master of Science. The thesis project involves experimental work under the supervision of a faculty member of the master program. This work can also be done outside the university, i.e. in research institutes or companies.
